The right to food is a fundamental human right and access to good nutrition is central to the health and wellbeing of the communities around us. According to the World Health Organisation, good nutrition is required to meet 12 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, the current reality is a world where up to 811 million people go hungry, 1.9 billion people are overweight and a third of all food produced is lost or wasted.

Over the last decade, we have been dedicated to evolving our product portfolio and as the leader in Taste & Nutrition, our solutions deliver better nutrition for consumers around the world. Using the externally validated UK Nutrient profiling model and independent expert recommendations, we have developed a framework that allows us to assess our entire product portfolio. Under this approach, over 80% of our solutions are classified as providing balanced and positive nutrition.

Consumers also want to understand the environmental impact of their food choices and 73% of consumers say they would change their consumption habits to reduce their impact on the environment.

We have committed to creating our products with less impact on the environment and by 2030, Kerry will reach over two billion people with sustainable nutrition solutions. Our natural Tastesense™ taste modulator reduces sugar to improve nutrition while also delivering lower greenhouse gas and water impacts. Brands leverage Tastesense™ to reduce up to 30% of sugar in finished products without sacrificing taste. Furthermore, Tastesense™ can reduce approximately 20% COemissions and 30% of water usage.

Brewing Solutions

Our extensive range of brewing solutions maximise extract yields and counter act challenging growing conditions. Specifically, our brewing ingredients (wort clarification agents, anti-foaming ingredients and yeasts) have the ability to reduce energy by 19% and CO₂ emissions by 41%. In addition, their use can save brewers up to €1.70/hl in production costs.

The process used to create our liquid smoke solution removes many of the harmful substances derived through conventional smoking. The process is more efficient and consistent, resulting in lower emissions and less equipment degradation than traditional methods.
